Meet The Steering Committee

The Colorado ManREACH Steering Committee is made up of G/B/Q men from the rural and mountain areas of Colorado. The volunteer committee provides guidance and oversight for ManREACH statewide events and activities. Here are profiles of two current members.

Larry Jakubiak - Hotchkiss, CO

Larry attended the first ManREACH gathering at Red Rock Ranch in Westcliffe in 2004 and has been involved in the community ever since. Larry is the mayor of Hotchkiss, Colorado, a talented chef and restaurant owner. During the gatherings, you'll most likely find him in the kitchen, overseeing the preparation of the delicious meals that are served.

"I've made lots of good friends through Colorado ManREACH," Larry says. "I know the guys in this community love me and accept me for who I am. It's an amazing feeling, one that's changed my life for the better."

When he's not busy with a million other things, Larry enjoys scuba diving, canoeing, traveling, good books and movies, and gardening.

Matthew Raschke - Grand Junction, CO

Matt attended his first ManREACH gathering at Cal-Wood in 2007. "It was like nothing I'd ever experienced. The way the men related to each other - their openness, honesty, caring and sharing - it blew me away. I learned a lot about my self and others that weekend," he continues. "It didn't take long for me to decide that I wanted to be more involved."

Matt recently became the Education and Outreach Coordinator at WestCAP in Grand Junction. It's a job that takes him all over the Western Slope, from the Grand Valley to Durango and Four Corners to the Roaring Fork Valley. "I love it. I enjoy meeting and getting to know new people."

An avid snowboarder, Matt also enjoys hiking, biking and rafting, and traveling around Colorado. "I enjoy just about anything if it involves being outside," he says.
