Planning for 2016 underway
Members of Colorado ManREACH’s statewide Steering Committee met in Keystone last weekend to begin planning for 2016. Two gatherings have been scheduled to date: one at the Cal-Wood Retreat Center in Jamestown, Thursday, June 30, through Sunday, July 3; the other at La Foret Retreat in Black Forest, Thursday through Sunday, September 1-4. A third event is being planned for the Western Slope, but the details have not been finalized yet.
Additional discussions focused on finances and fundraising, including participant fees and a scholarship fund, plus a plan to help community members host local ManREACH potlucks and one-day events. More information about each of these topics will be communicated over the coming weeks.
The Steering Committee also updated the organization’s mission statement, which now reads: The mission of Colorado ManREACH (Rural Education in Action for Community Health) is to build heart-centered connections and community for gay, bisexual, queer and transgender men. This simplified version opens participation in Colorado ManREACH events to men who support the mission, but live outside the rural and mountain areas of Colorado. The revision reflects the fact that Colorado ManREACH has been drawing GBQT men from Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Denver and outside Colorado for many years.
